The first Retreat yielded a fair amount of controversy for being exclusively "A-lister" as well as an excuse to network rather than completing the mandate of "making South Africa better through the Internet".
We sent intrepid reporter Jarred Cinman with recording equipment and a fair sense of cynicism to Stanford. What returned was someone almost akin to a religious convert. Jarred, the usually cynical member of Th Digital Edge came back in love with the location, people and concept of The Geek Retreat.
