Episode 57: Online Media Buying
In this week's episode of The Digital Edge we tackle to topic of online media buying in South Africa. With the total amount spent online in 2009 being around four hundred million, it is rumoured that a similar amount was spent on Google adverts that are thus not reported as local income. Now with Facebook being represented locally by Habari Media, is this problem set to grow even further with international publishers taking potential local publishers revenue.
We speak to Richard Sidersky, Head of the Media Buying division of Aqua Online as well as Stijn Smolders from Habari to understand their new Facebook offering and finally Nikki Cocroft of the Online Publishers Association to give us some industry perspective.
This week we're also joined by Hilton Tarrant of Moneyweb live from Barcelona to discuss the Mobile World Congress and as always, Kerry-Anne Gilowey joins us to discuss the news of the week.
